Subject: YMCA Appreciation Month
 
In the near future, I will be offering a resolution that will recognize May 2013 as "YMCA Appreciation Month" in the Commonwealth.

YMCAs are volunteer funded, volunteer based, and volunteer lead nonprofit charitable organizations. They provide access to everyone, regardless of ability to pay, and never turn away anyone who wishes to be a part of the YMCA family. YMCA's serve over $1 million people in the Commonwealth and collectively raise more than $40 million for scholarships, subsidies, and other community service projects.

These YMCA branches are instrumental in communities all across Pennsylvania, and the public trust placed in them as community leading organizations is well documented.

Therefore, I urge you to join me in recognizing the great work the YMCA organization has down for residents of Pennsylvania.
