SUBJECT: Careless and negligent hunting shooting accidents


In the near future, I will be reintroducing legislation that will impact those hunters who act carelessly and/or negligently and injure another human while hunting. It establishes new periods of denying the privilege of hunting in the Commonwealth for various actions. It includes the following provisions:

  • A five year denial for shooting at but not hitting or injuring or shooting at and causing bodily injury to a human being.
  • A 20 to 30 year denial for shooting at and causing serious bodily injury to a human being.
  • A lifetime denial for killing a human being.
  • A lifetime denial for an individual prohibited from carrying a firearm under either Federal or State law.
