Subject:	PSP Fee Waiver for Criminal Background Checks

Description:

Legislation that would provide a fee waiver for both the $10 criminal background and $10 child abuse clearance for individuals who are considering adopting a special needs child.  The fee waiver would apply only for prospective parents who are looking to adopt children who are disabled, 5-years of age or older, or have a genetic condition that would likely lead to a disease or disability. This was formerly Senate Bill 665 of last session.  Previous co-sponsors included: BREWSTER, COSTA, EICHELBERGER, FONTANA, KITCHEN, RAFFERTY, SOLOBAY, TARTAGLIONE, WASHINGTON and FARNESE.

Description:

Legislation that would provide a fee waiver for the $10 criminal background for individuals who are considering becoming a volunteer firefighter.  The fee waiver would apply only to a prospective volunteer fireman who is required by the respective volunteer fire department to submit to a criminal background check.  This was formerly Senate Bill 666 of last session.  Previous co-sponsors included: BREWSTER, COSTA, EICHELBERGER, ERICKSON, FONTANA, GREENLEAF, KITCHEN, RAFFERTY, SOLOBAY, TARTAGLIONE, WASHINGTON, WAUGH and FARNESE.
