Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 10, 2013 03:39 PM
From: Senator Jay Costa
To: All Senate members
Subject: Technology Improvement Fund

Please join me in sponsoring legislation introduced as Senate Bill 599 in the 2010-2011 legislative session by Senators COSTA, TARTAGLIONE, FONTANA, ERICKSON, BREWSTER, YUDICHAK, FERLO and BROWNE.

The legislation establishes a $25 million technology improvement fund for agencies or departments in state government. The Governor would provide a list of information technology projects that he proposes being funded and the General Assembly can modify the list and hopefully pass the list as part of the budget. This is designed to provide Commonwealth agencies with up to date technology since many departments are being required to provide services with fewer employees. The design of the fund is allow departments to undertake large and long term computer projects. The $25 million would be transferred from the Sales tax each year.

I hope you will join me in sponsoring this legislation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Introduced as SB795
