Subject: Property Tax Cut for Firefighters
 
In the near future, I will re-introduce legislation (SB 810) proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to require local governments and school districts to give each volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician a 15% discount on their individual (non-business) real estate taxes if they volunteer at least 100 hours every year and initially for at least 2 consecutive years.

Many communities are having a very difficult time recruiting and keeping trained, volunteer firefighters and EMT’s. This legislation will help provide a tremendous incentive to men and women who help their communities.
