Subject: | State Police Complement Legislation |
In an effort to enhance public safety throughout the Commonwealth, I will be re-introducing two pieces of legislation to ensure there are enough Troopers to provide adequate protection to our citizens, and to make certain that a sufficient number of cadets are being prepared for the future. Additionally, these pieces of legislation will become critical to addressing the wave of potential Trooper retirements the State Police may face in the next few years. Introduced as SB513
Description: | This legislation, SB 1041 of last session, would stipulate that on January 1st of each year, if the difference between the aggregate number of PSP members is less than the authorized complement by 5% or greater, a new cadet class (of not less than 150 individuals) shall be authorized for the next fiscal year. This legislation would also exclude from the total complement the PSP members assigned to duty with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, and the Delaware River Bridge Authority. Previous co-sponsors included: BOSCOLA, BREWSTER, FARNESE, FONTANA, GREENLEAF, RAFFERTY, SOLOBAY, STACK, TARTAGLIONE and WASHINGTON. |
