Dawn Staley currently serves as the Head Coach of the University of South Carolina, Women’s Basketball Team. On Sunday, April 7, 2024, Dawn led the team to their third National Championship title. The number one ranked Gamecocks finished the season undefeated with a perfect record of 38-0. Dawn was named National Coach of the Year for the fifth time. Dawn is a phenomenal coach, a talented player, and a North Philadelphia native. She is no stranger to achievement in the game of basketball. Dawn is a graduate of Dobbins Tech High School, where she was named, “USA Today’s National High School Player of the Year,” as a senior. The girls’ gymnasium is named in her honor. Dawn is a graduate of the University of Virgina, where was a two-time Naismith Award Winner. Dawn made history as the first former Naismith Player of the Year to earn the Naismith Coach of the Year award. Dawn served as the former Head Coach of the Temple University, Women’s Basketball Team, for eight seasons. Dawn was named as one of the WNBA’s top 15, one of the most influential players in league history.
