Subject: | Amending Act 57 of 2020 |
This forthcoming bill seeks to amend Title 44 (Law and Justice) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for law enforcement background investigations, for duties of the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission (MPOETC), law enforcement agencies and employers and for immunity from liability and violations. Specifically, this legislation would make changes to Act 57 of 2020 in order to more effectively manage the state interdepartmental law enforcement misconduct database which was activated in 2021. Combined, these changes will fulfill the potential of this invaluable resource for law enforcement agencies and community safety across our commonwealth. Please become a co-sponsor to join this effort to make Pennsylvania a national model for police accountability while strengthening the public trust. |
