Subject: | Veterans Week of Service |
After years of service to our country, veterans from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces continue to lead and serve outside the military. Veterans nationwide have formed nonprofit organizations aimed at providing comprehensive life-sustaining services to homeless and other at-risk veterans. These services include affordable housing, educational services, counseling, and job placement and other employment assistance. From the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania to the Greater Philadelphia Veterans Network, veterans in Pennsylvania and nationwide have implemented programs to help other veterans who face difficulty transitioning from military to civilian life. Accordingly, our resolution designating the week of November 4-11, 2023, as “Veterans Week of Service” would recognize the work of veterans who continue to lead and serve by forming nonprofit veterans organizations in the Commonwealth, with the primary mission of improving the lives of their peers. Please join us is showing support and gratitude for the work of the members of the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania, the Greater Philadelphia Veterans Network, and other nonprofit veterans organizations who serve to better the lives of veterans and others both inside and outside the Commonwealth. |
