Subject: | Reorganizing the Pennsylvania State University Board of Trustees |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would reform the composition of the Board of Trustees for the Pennsylvania State University to make its membership consistent with the other State-Related Universities. Currently, Penn State is the only state-related university with no House or Senate representation on the Board of Trustees. Temple, Lincoln, and Pittsburgh each have twelve Commonwealth Trustees (4 appointed by the Governor, 4 appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and 4 appointed by the Speaker of the House) serving on their respective Boards. Under my legislation, the Penn State Board of Trustees, as with the other State-Related Universities, would be composed of 34 voting members:
Additionally, the Governor, the Secretary of Education, and the Secretary of Agriculture will serve as non-voting, ex officio members of the Board. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation. |
