| Subject: | Consolidation of the Election Code |
| The Pennsylvania Election Code serves as the foundation for how we conduct accessible and secure elections in our state. While the Election Code was modernized in 2019 it still remains difficult to read. Democracy works best when all citizens participate and are able to understand the laws that govern their election process. For these reasons, I plan to introduce legislation to consolidate the Election Code and make it more readable using plain, simple English. No substantive changes will be made to the content of the Election Code. Instead, the codification and simplification of these important statutes will make election law more accessible to all Pennsylvanians. In addition, not only will our Election Code be readable, but it will also be consolidated into one place for ease of use. Pennsylvania deserves elected leaders who put the people first and make government work for them. This is an important step in the right direction. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. Let us work together to simplify some of our most important laws. Your consideration is greatly appreciated. |
