Subject: | Additional Special Occasion Permits for Veteran Organization and Fire Companies without Liquor Licenses |
Over the last decade our Veteran Organizations and Fire Companies have struggled to remain solvent. This issue was only worsened during the Pandemic. These organizations provide valuable services to our veterans and our communities. They survive through fundraising efforts which can be limited if they do not hold a liquor license. In the near future, I will be introducing legislation which will allow Nationally Chartered Veteran Organizations and Volunteer Fire Companies, who do not currently hold a liquor license, to apply for a Supplemental Special Occasion Permit which will allow them to hold weekly fundraising events. My legislation will allow for one additional event a week (not to exceed 52 in a year) and the event must be for fundraising purposes. The organizations would be required to notify the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement 48 hours prior to the event taking place to ensure proper safeguards and practices are in place. The goal of my legislation is to help these organizations, who do not have liquor licenses, to hold fundraising events on the same level as similar organizations. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation and help our veteran organizations and fire companies continue to raise the money needed for them to remain operational. |
