Subject: | Allowing Limited Wineries to Partner with BYOBs |
Small local restaurants are a foundation for our communities and provide a place for people to socialize and enjoy their free time. Patrons often come in, not realizing a restaurant is a BYOB, believing they can purchase wine upon arrival. These local restaurants would love to be able to offer a glass of wine to their customers to enjoy with their meal. However, unlike the national chains, these small businesses often can’t afford to purchase a liquor license for several thousands of dollars. To promote both our small local BYOB restaurants and our Pennsylvania wineries, my legislation would allow a BYOB restaurant to collaborate with a local limited winery to sell wine to enjoy with their meal in the restaurant. Limited wineries would be permitted to apply for and obtain an off-premise catering permit which they could use to partner with community restaurants to benefit both local businesses – as well as their customers. Please consider supporting consumers, our growing Pennsylvania winery industry, and small local restaurants statewide by co-sponsoring this legislation. Thank you in advance for your support.
