Subject:	Safe Storage of Firearms

In the summer of 2017, Cosmo DiNardo brutally murdered four young men in Pennsylvania using a family member’s gun. DiNardo was not allowed to have a firearm due to his severe mental illness. However, Pennsylvania does not require firearms to be safely stored, allowing dangerous individuals like DiNardo to access legally owned firearms and use them for crime. For this reason, I will be introducing legislation which would require firearm owners to safely store all of their firearms when they reside with a person who cannot legally possess a firearm. This will help to keep our communities safe by ensuring that dangerous individuals, such as Cosmo DiNardo, do not have easy access to firearms in the home. I ask that you join me in protecting all Pennsylvanians by helping firearm owners to be responsible in ensuring that their guns do not fall into the wrong hands.
