Subject: Repeal of the obsolete Emergency Relief Sales Tax Act
 
Please join me as a co-sponsor of legislation to repeal the Emergency Relief Sales Tax Act (Act 53 of Special Session 1 of 1932).

Under this statute, the Commonwealth imposed a tax on the sale of tangible personal property in this Commonwealth. The tax was imposed for a limited time, which ended on February 28, 1933. Thus, even though no tax has been applied under this act for nearly 90 years, it remains on the books. 

Repealing obsolete tax laws simplifies our statutes and reduces taxpayers’ confusion about the business climate in this Commonwealth.
