Subject: Update to our Current Liquor Laws Regarding Breweries/Distilleries

As many of you are aware, in the last several years, many of our breweries have expanded their operations to include distilled spirits.  However, our current liquor laws are out-of-sync with this new development. Under current law, a brewery and a distillery may not operate at the same location, nor may they serve on-premises consumption at the same location.

These prohibitions are an impediment to commerce and counter-productive to breweries who are looking to also distill spirits.  This pro-business legislation will allow a single entity to hold and operate a brewery license and a distillery license at the same location.  Furthermore, the legislation will allow a licensee who operates a brewery and limited distillery license to be considered a single entity for the purposes of on-premises consumption.

It is my belief that this legislation is commonsense and makes Pennsylvania more competitive in the growing brewing and distilled spirits industry.

Thank you in advance for consideration of this quality piece of legislation.
