Subject: Cross Checks for Medical Assistance
 
Section 432.14 of the Human Services Code provides requirements for verification of eligibility into our medical assistance programs. My legislation would simply increase the effectiveness and provide a more efficient method to verify eligibility and redetermine eligibility for eligible Pennsylvania residents seeking to apply for medical assistance.

This legislation simply requires the Department of Human Services to use already collected government data to verify:
  • Lottery Winnings
  • Death Records
  • Employment & Income
  • Residency
  • Incarceration
Further this legislation will limit the powers of the Department of Human Services to ensure they are managing medical assistance programs within Pennsylvania law.
