Subject: | CO-SPONSORSHIP FOR ADDING “VIRTUAL” OPTION TO ESTABLISH QUORUM OF LAND BANK BOARD |
In the near future, I will be introducing a bill to allow a land bank board to establish a “virtual” quorum via internet platform to conduct a board meeting. My legislation amends Act 153 of 2012, the Land Bank Act, to strike the requirement for physical presence at a meeting and to insert the language allowing for “virtual” quorum. This, of course, will allow land bank boards to move into the 21st century, using technology to conduct business so that important decisions regarding land bank property acquisition, disposition and management remains timely. Land banks are one of the tools that municipalities may use to facilitate the return of vacant, abandoned and tax-delinquent properties to productive use. As of June 2020, there are 25 land banks actively operating in our Commonwealth. Please join me in supporting this legislation to afford land banks the ability to take advantage of this technology. |
