MEMORANDUM

Posted: November 8, 2021 02:28 PM
From: Representative David H. Rowe
To: All House members
Subject: Constitutional Tax Limits

As the financiers of the Commonwealth, our taxpayers deserve to have a direct say in any new tax proposal that will affect them.

That is why I will soon be introducing legislation that will require a new ballot question to be placed on the primary ballot regarding any new taxes and fees or increases or expansions of taxes or fees by the Commonwealth or any political subdivision or authority since the previous primary election. My legislation will give the people an opportunity to vote for or against any new tax, or expansion of an existing tax, allowing them to have direct say over what is being done with their hard earned income.

Allowing the people to have this kind of direct hand in matters that directly affect them is crucial to ensuring that our society stays one that is governed by the people. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation.

Introduced as HB2432
