Subject: | Limiting election machines to American built equipment |
During the May 18, 2021 Primary Election, Fayette County encountered major problems with its voting machines, in particular in the form of the machines rejecting ballots. This major difficulty resulted in delays for voters, long lines, and even voters being turned away. There is no excuse for machines to encounter these types of system failures on Election Day. In the near future I plan to introduce legislation to require voting machines be manufactured in the United States and sold by a vendor with a primary place of business within the United States. We must protect voters against possible disenfranchisement and ensure a process committed to the integrity of the election. Please join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
