Subject: Kinesthetic Learning Platform Pilot Program
 
In the near future, I plan on introducing legislation that will create the Kinesthetic Learning Platform Pilot Program in the Commonwealth.
 
This program will utilize a platform that provides educational programming with physical movement and activity. Students will participate in a curriculum that promotes periodic movement.
 
The National Association for Sport and Physical Education, the Journal of Pediatrics, and the Journal of Educational Research all have highlighted studies and articles that indicate physical activity can promote mental well-being.
 
This legislation will permit the Department of Education to select a platform to be piloted in pre-K through 2nd grade classrooms. The platform must use physical activity to improve academic performance while teaching objective standards in English language arts and mathematics. The platform shall not exceed $1,500 per academic year to a school district.
