Session of 2021 - 2022 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: April 14, 2021 10:01 AM
From: Representative Kerry A. Benninghoff
To: All House members
Subject: Airport requirements

In the near future, I plan on introducing legislation that would remove the outdated requirement that a new airport can’t be located within two miles of the boundaries of an existing airport. Currently, PennDOT is prohibited by law from issuing a license for a new airport if there is an existing airport within two miles of the boundaries for the proposed location of the new airport.

Title 74 provides PennDOT with the authority to regulate and oversee the issuance of licenses for new and existing airports within the Commonwealth. My legislation would simply remove the outdated 2-mile requirement and still permit PennDOT to practice its authority to issue licenses for new airports within the Commonwealth.

I hope you will join me in cosponsoring.  Thank you!

Introduced as HB1785
