Subject: | Transparency on Non-Residential Construction Sites |
I am preparing to introduce legislation to provide additional transparency on non-residential construction sites. Although current UCC regulations require construction permit holders to keep a copy of the permit at the worksite, it is up to each individual building code official whether to require disclosure of the contractors and subcontractors working on a construction site. My bill will require the permit holder to disclose the contractor and subcontractors doing work on the job to the code official prior to any work being performed by the contractor and subcontractors – and the names of the contractors and subcontractors would be posted with the building code permit, if the code official has required the display of the permit. I believe that this additional transparency will help to identify unscrupulous contractors and subcontractors who have violated Act 75 of 2019 and federal law by hiring workers who are not authorized to work in the United States. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
