Subject: | Pennsylvania joining the Nurse Licensure Compact |
This past year showed our country how important it is to have quality health care professionals and what can happen if there are not enough to provide care. Our nurses in Pennsylvania do an amazing job and we need to ensure that we can continue to attract qualified nurses. We also learned how important it is to saving lives, that Pennsylvania nurses be allowed to practice in other states. For this reason, I am proposing Pennsylvania’s implementation of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). My legislation creates an efficient, expedited process for duly qualified nurses in Pennsylvania to receive a multistate license and provide care here or in any of the other 34 member-states in the NLC. Likewise, the bill creates a pathway for nurses in other member-states to practice in the Commonwealth, expanding the availability of health care services in Pennsylvania. My bill will also provide for transparency in nursing staff report in order to ensure proper patient care by healthcare providers. Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation, now more than ever we need to ensure our Pennsylvania families will be able to receive the quality care they deserve. |
