MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 3, 2021 12:58 PM
From: Representative John A. Lawrence
To: All House members
Subject: COSPONSOR MEMO - All Hands on Deck to Administer COVID Vaccines

Colleagues –

In the coming days, the state should be doing everything possible to facilitate safe and rapid COVID-19 vaccinations in the Commonwealth.  In addition to making sure we have enough vaccines, we must make sure we have enough medical professionals available to safely administer vaccines.

Currently in Pennsylvania, some licensed medical professionals, such as dentists and podiatrists, are not provided the ability to administer vaccines.  This is despite the fact that these licensed medical professionals regularly engage in a wide variety of medical procedures, including the administration of local anesthesia and surgery.  With large scale vaccination sites coming in the near future, we should be doing everything we can to ensure Doctors who want to assist with vaccination efforts aren’t blocked by red-tape and bureaucracy.

With this in mind, I will introduce legislation to authorize licensed medical professionals, such as dentists and podiatrists, to administer COVID-19 vaccinations for the duration of the pandemic.  I welcome your support of this initiative.
