Subject: | Financial Disclosures in Divorce |
Divorces are difficult for everyone involved. Divorce proceedings can become even more difficult when one party attempts to hide assets from the other. Considering such cases, it is important that we do all we are able to help make divorce court proceedings as transparent and fair as possible. That being said, I will be re-introducing legislation to require both parties in a divorce to provide two years of financial records as well as a detailed list of living expenses to the court within 45 days of filing for divorce. This legislation is directly based on and mirrors New Jersey Supreme Court requirements for divorce proceedings that sought to make divorces in that state more equitable. It is imperative that we can ensure transparency in divorce proceedings for both parties. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
