Subject: | Urging DOH to add Cystic Fibrosis to Phase 1A of COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution |
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes dangerous and persistent lung infections, that deteriorates one’s ability to breathe over time. Currently, Pennsylvania’s Phase 1A of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan does not specifically include people with cystic fibrosis, who are at higher risk due to lung or other solid organ transplants in addition to the body’s inability to absorb nutrients. Therefore, I plan to introduce a resolution urging the Department of Health to add cystic fibrosis as a qualifier for COVID-19 vaccination to protect the health and safety of this vulnerable population. It is imperative that as public servants during this global pandemic, that we do everything possible to protect our residents to the best of our ability. It is my hope that you will join me in this collective effort to advocate for people with cystic fibrosis across this Commonwealth. Your consideration is greatly appreciated. |
