|Subject:||Entertainment Venue Industry Recovery Program|
|Please join me as a co-sponsor of legislation to establish the Entertainment Venue Industry Recovery Program.
This legislation would provide grants to small businesses within the performing arts, spectator sports, amusement, gambling, and recreation industries. These businesses have been hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic impact and many have not been able to access existing federal relief.
The program would operate on a similar basis to the Hospitality Industry Recovery Program established in Act 1 of 2021. The entertainment venues that would be eligible to apply for grant under this program are not eligible to apply for the Hospitality Industry Recovery Program.
I am introducing this legislation now, in preparation for future allocations from the federal government that the Commonwealth would be permitted to use for these purposes. If such funding does arrive, I believe that having this legislation prepared will allow us to allocate the funding promptly.
I look forward to working with you on this important legislation.
Introduced as HB878
