Subject: Working to Ensure Broadband Access Across Pennsylvania

In today’s world, all Pennsylvanians need affordable access to highspeed broadband internet.  Without that access, families and businesses in rural areas and underserved urban areas are going to continue to be left behind and at a disadvantage when teleworking, telelearning and operating a competitive business.  The COVID-19 pandemic is just more boldly demonstrating these inequities. It is time we truly focus on ensuring affordable broadband access is available everyone no matter where you live.

In order to help ensure people can telework, students can attend telelearning, and businesses have the ability to compete in the modern marketplace, I will be introducing legislation to establish a Broadband Authority to oversee and support the deployment of broadband services throughout the Commonwealth. The authority will be the single point of contact for broadband initiatives and will work to identify and supply funds to ensure we are getting broadband access to as many Pennsylvanians as possible.

I ask that you support this legislation and help give families and communities across Pennsylvania fair and equal access to broadband internet.
