| Subject: | Pennsylvania National Guard Assistance with the Distribution of COVID Vaccine |
| In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that would require the Pennsylvania National Guard (PANG) to assist in both the distribution and administration of the COVID-19 vaccine in all 67 counties in the Commonwealth. My proposal will also require the PANG to follow the guidance and augment the work of the Pennsylvania Departments of Health and Human Services. The PANG has both the infrastructure, human capital, and logistics to make sure that the vaccine is distributed to all in a timely fashion and efficiently. Several other states and territories have already started to utilize their National Guard. National Guard units have been conducting tests, sanitizing facilities, providing logistical support, and delivering meals and personal protective equipment. Mission capability for the PANG can include supporting local health officials by collecting, securing, transporting and –when requested – administering COVID-19 vaccinations.
