Subject: | Brain Scans for Veterans Suffering a Traumatic Brain Injury or Post-Traumatic Stress Injury |
Nearly 20% of our veterans have experienced either a traumatic brain injury or a post-traumatic stress injury. Often, they are not provided access to high definition scans that could aid in their treatment. The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs does not have enough funding to provide this equipment to conduct the scans or support on-going clinical research into traumatic brain and post-traumatic stress injuries in the state. We need to assist the department and get funding to help get our service members and veterans the care that they require. They helped us in our time of need. Now it is imperative that we help them when they are in need. This bill will provide $500,000 for the diagnostic technology to carry out the scans and another $500,000 to pay for hardware and software costs of the diagnostic technology and administrative costs to provide the high-definition scans to service members and veterans. Let’s help our suffering service members and veterans get the help they need to recover from these injuries. |
