Subject:	Allowing School Districts to Change their Names

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation which would permit a school district to change its name. Currently, there is no statutory process in place which would allow a school district to change its name. Under my legislation, a school district would be permitted to change their name after a majority vote of the local board of school directors and approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This process mirrors the process for a school district to change its name when there is a merger between two districts. Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation.
