Subject: | Volunteer loan Assistance Funding Restriction |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation amending the Volunteer Loan Assistance Program under Chapter 73 of Title 35 (Health and Safety). Specifically, my proposal will provide that a fire company will not be eligible to apply for a loan under the Volunteer Loan Assistance Program, if the fire company receives local share funding from gaming proceeds from a casino located in the same county. Fairness dictates that fire companies receiving local share gaming proceeds have the financial support needed to purchase apparatus and equipment and that the monies available in the VLAP program should be reserved for fire companies that lack strong financial support to maintain apparatus and equipment. Please consider joining me in sponsoring this legislation. Previous HB 802 |
