Subject: | Energy Efficiency and Conservation - Former HB 2136 |
The cheapest, cleanest form of energy is the energy that we don’t need to produce in the first place. For this reason, we will be reintroducing legislation in the near future to set energy efficiency and water conservation standards for commercial and residential appliances sold in the Commonwealth. This legislation can play a critical role to help Pennsylvania tackle climate change, reduce air pollution, conserve our water resources and save the Commonwealth’s consumers and businesses money on their utility bills. Research shows that these efficiency standards will reduce climate pollution by an estimated 507 tons, conserve over 6 billion gallons of water and save consumers approximately $217 million on their utility bills by 2025. All of these appliances are already on the market, competitively priced and available to Pennsylvania consumers and businesses today. As you can see, this legislation will go a long way towards protecting the health, environment and pocketbooks of Pennsylvania’s residents and businesses. We hope you will join us by cosponsoring this important legislation.
