Subject: Updating the Family Caregiver Support Act
 
In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation (HB 2684) to amend the Family Caregiver Support Act. There is a significant need for services to assist families and caregivers providing at-home care to functionally dependent older adults, adults living with Alzheimer’s Disease and related disorders, and adults with disabilities. There is also a large number of older adults who are increasingly providing care to children whose parents are not able to care for them.

Currently, there are numerous requirements in state statute, federal law, and the regulation. Navigating these layers of rules can be cumbersome and counterproductive. My legislation will streamline these three sets of requirements by amending the Family Caregiver Support Act and address the need for these crucial services.
