Subject: | Expanding COVID-19 Vaccine Access |
The science strongly suggests that a vaccine offers the most effective and sustainable solution to abate the severe public health, social, and economic fallout from the current COVID-19 pandemic. In light of this, it is critical that we expand access for COVID-19 vaccines when they become available for the general public. Doing this urgently requires that pharmacists are able to administer COVID-19 vaccines so that receiving one is made as convenient and safe as possible at local pharmacies. This is why I am introducing legislation that will allow pharmacists to safely administer a COVID-19 vaccine to any eligible individual who wants one. Similar guidelines are already in place for administering flu vaccines and would help reduce the burden at our hospitals and doctors’ offices in addition to ensuring that communities throughout Pennsylvania are provided options to easily get a vaccine. Please join me in supporting this commonsense public health practice. If we can secure access for medical preventions against COVID-19 for everyone, the sooner we can heal from this pivotal moment in history. |
