Subject: | Removal of Deceased Individuals from Voter Rolls |
Two months before the 2020 presidential primary, a lawsuit was filed against Allegheny County for registering to vote over 1,500 deceased individuals. Couple this with the fact that the Department of State has been slow to remove nearly 12,000 non-citizens from the voter rolls and we can start to see a pattern. The processes to remove deceased individuals from the voter rolls is long and cumbersome. This can lead to voter fraud and inaccurate voter turnout reports. Currently, our laws allow up to 90 days from a person passing to when they are removed from the voter rolls. My legislation will shorten this time frame to just under a week by eliminating redundancies and streamlining the process. By doing so, we can better safeguard and increase the accuracy of our elections. I hope you will join me and co-sponsor this important piece of legislation.
