Subject: | Modernizing the Port of Pittsburgh Commission Board |
As the Pennsylvania House of Representatives appointees to the Port of Pittsburgh Commission we plan on introducing legislation to modernize the membership of the Port of Pittsburgh Commission Board. The membership of the Port of Pittsburgh’s Board has not been updated in over twenty-five years. In addition, several of the entities listed within the Port of Pittsburgh Commission Act as eligible for representation on the Board longer exist. Our legislation will reduce the Commission from 15 members to 13 by retaining the current four legislative appointments and as well as the four members appointed by the governor. The remaining five members would be: Three members appointed by the governor from a list of a at least five nominees submitted by the Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional Planning Commission; One member nominated by the Port of Pittsburgh’s Executive Committee and appointed by the Port’s Board; and one member appointed by the Governor from a list of at least three nominees submitted to the Governor by the Port’s Board. Thank you for your consideration of this initiative and I hope you will join us in co-sponsoring the bill.
