Subject: | COVID-19 Local Restaurant Grants |
During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many bars, restaurants, and catering halls are struggling to stay afloat. Most mom-and-pop restaurants cannot sustain themselves financially while continuing to operate at less than full capacity and with so many Pennsylvanians socially distancing and avoiding public establishments. We must ensure the economic survival of these businesses that often-become landmarks in the communities in which we live, work, and raise our families. For this reason, we plan on introducing a bill that would provide grants to eligible bars, restaurants, catering, and banquet halls that are struggling. Our bill will focus on smaller, community businesses, “mom and pop” establishments, rather than chains and national conglomerates. The bill will utilize CARES Act funding and place a cap on assistance to help as many local businesses as possible. Our family restaurants and food establishments need economic support so they can be there for their employees, customers, and neighborhoods in the future. Please join us in co-sponsoring this crucial legislation. |
