Subject: | Access to Broadband Internet for Families in Public Housing |
COVID-19 has proven that broadband internet access is not a privilege, but a necessity in our modern economy. If a family doesn’t have internet access, everyday tasks like groceries, working, studies, and keeping in touch with loved ones becomes much more complicated. Even ordering a mail-in ballot is easier when doing it online. However, for those living in public housing, quality broadband internet access may be hard to come by. For this reason, I plan on introducing a bill to create a permanent program for individuals and families in public housing to have access to free broadband internet. This bill creates a reimbursement program for internet providers installing and maintaining broadband service to public housing units. Internet access is an essential service, pandemic or not. Stand with me as we ensure that families in public housing have similar opportunities as other Pennsylvanians. Please consider co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
