Subject: | Ensuring Safety in Our Child Care Facilities |
Quality and equitable child care is a vital service and remains a concern for all of the essential workers in Pennsylvania fighting on the frontlines against COVID-19. As we serve the parents and caregivers who continue to report to work each day, we must take every step to ensure the safety of their children in our child care facilities across the Commonwealth.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released safety guidelines specific to child care facilities to encourage the proper public health and safety precautions to be taken while delivering child care services during the COVID-19 pandemic. In conjunction with such guidelines, Governor Wolf recently announced a mask order for all businesses and patrons in the state. As such, I feel it is important that we recognize the need for such guidelines to be adopted in our child care facilities in order to protect both the children and workers. This bill would require personal protection equipment to be worn by workers and proper hygiene methods to be used as recommended by the CDC and allow inspections to occur to verify compliance.
Please join me in supporting this action to ensure we are enforcing comprehensive public health measures as we continue to safely move through these unprecedented times. |
