Subject: | Allowing PA’s Florists to Re-open |
The COVID-19 virus crisis has caused many of our businesses to shut down per the directive of Governor Wolf’s 20200319 TWW COVID-19 Business Closure Order. One of those business sectors is florists. I am planning to introduce legislation that would allow Pennsylvania’s florists to re-open immediately.
Many households have been experiencing missed special occasions. Funerals, graduations, special anniversaries, birthdays, etc., are events that are very often marked by being surrounded with family and friends. During this uncertain time of COVID-19, many are left on their own to work through these emotional days because gatherings are unable to happen. At the very least, sending a floral arrangement is a way to let our friends and loved ones know that they are in our thoughts, minds, hearts, and prayers…and more importantly, that they are not alone during these times.
Florists are able to work in a setting that allows for social distancing and to practice safe mitigation measures. Delivery services make it possible for safe exchange of their beautiful products, and more importantly, makes it possible to brighten the day of those that might feel forgotten or overwhelmed by isolation. It also allows additional PA residents to remain employed.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
