Subject: | EMS for Children Day |
I will be introducing a resolution which designates May 20, 2020, as Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This year, 30 million children will visit the emergency department and emergencies involving children can occur anytime, anywhere. The EMSC program is designed to ensure that all children and adolescents – no matter where they live, attend school, or travel – receive appropriate care in a health emergency. The purpose of the annual EMS for Children Day is to highlight the distinctive aspects of caring for children and to raise awareness about the need to improve and expand specialized care for children in prehospital and acute care settings. Please join me in cosponsoring this very worthwhile resolution which will provide our state with the opportunity to bring together EMS agencies and their local communities to focus attention on illness and injury prevention and raise awareness about issues important to the continued development and enhancement of EMS and trauma systems. |
