| Subject: | Enabling Counties to Enact an Ambulance Services Tax |
| Rural Pennsylvania is facing a major crisis in maintaining our ambulance services due to lack of funding. While some legislative action has been taken to ease the burden, we are finding that something more is necessary. In discussions with my county commissioners on how to resolve the issue, we discussed the possibility of local tax specific to ambulance services. Therefore, I will be introducing enabling legislation that will allow counties to assess a tax specifically for ambulance services. The legislation will be comparable to the local services tax that municipalities have been using to help offset costs at the local level. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
