Subject: | National Primary Immunodeficiency Awareness Month |
Every year in the United States, over 500,000 people suffer from a primary immunodeficiency disease, a group of chronic conditions that occur when a person’s immune system does not function properly. These genetic diseases leave Americans at greater risk of infection and can make infections more difficult to cure. However, with proper diagnosis and treatment, many people with such diseases are able to live full and independent lives. In order to support the Immune Deficiency Foundation’s efforts to raise awareness about primary immunodeficiency diseases in order to facilitate early diagnoses and improved treatment outcomes, I will introduce a resolution designating the month of April 2020 as “National Primary Immunodeficiency Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania. Please join me in supporting the health and wellbeing of Pennsylvanians with primary immunodeficiency diseases. |
