Subject: | Designating November 2019 as “National Dog Show Month” in Pennsylvania |
The National Dog Show is one of the premier dog shows in the United States and is viewed on television each year by an estimated 20 million people on Thanksgiving Day. Each November, the show attracts nearly 15,000 people and 2,000 dogs of over 150 breeds to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Montgomery County. Held annually since 1933, the National Dog Show is the largest, and one of the last, “benched” dog shows in the country. A “benched” show requires that the dogs remain on assigned benches throughout the day, providing an opportunity for the public to meet the dogs and ask their handlers and others questions regarding the breeds present at the show. This year’s National Dog Show will be held on November 16 and 17, and will be televised on NBC. In an effort to promote these champions, please join me in designating November 2019 as “National Dog Show Month” in Pennsylvania. |
