Subject:	Resolution - Recognizing October 2019 as "Fire Prevention Month" in Pennsylvania and "National Fire Prevention Week," October 6-12, 2019

I will be introducing a resolution designating October 2019 as "Fire Prevention Month" and observing the week of October 6 through 12, 2019, as "National Fire Prevention Week" in Pennsylvania. The National Fire Protection Association has chosen as its theme for National Fire Prevention Week 2019, “Not Every Hero Wears A Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape.” The purpose of this year’s theme is to educate people about small but important actions they can take to keep themselves and others safe. Not only does Fire Prevention Week provide the opportunity to raise awareness and educate people about fire safety and prevention in their homes and communities, it also recognizes the unrelenting efforts of all first responders, firefighters, and fire service agencies as they perform their duties for the common good. I would appreciate your co-sponsorship of this legislation.
