Subject: Legislation Providing Tuition Assistance to Firefighters
 
As we all know, many of our fire service organizations have struggled to recruit and retain firefighters. I believe more can be done to encourage people to serve.

The recently enacted PA GI Bill provides for a Military Family Education Program, which expands on a great program designed to pay for the educational costs of National Guard members. I feel that firefighters should have the same opportunity to achieve a college education for all the hours they spend training and contributing to public safety across the Commonwealth.
By providing for tuition grants for our firefighters, I hope to entice and encourage a new generation of public servants in Pennsylvania.
