Subject: | Resolution - Recognizing the U.S. Women's National Team for Winning the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup |
On July 7, 2019, the U.S. Women's National Team - the USWNT - won the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup after defeating Netherlands by a score of 2-0. This is the fourth Women's World Cup title for the United States. The United States previously won in 1991, 1999 and 2015. The USWNT is the only team to win four Women's World Cup titles. With 26 goals, the U.S. set a record for most goals in a FIFA Women's World Cup. The previous record was 25, shared by the U.S. and Germany in 1991 and 2003, respectively. The USWNT inspired our country as they advanced through the tournament and won the title. Please join me in recognizing the U.S. Women's National Team for winning the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. |
