Subject: | Trooper Wayne C. Ebert Memorial Highway |
In the near future, I will be introducing legislation that will designate a 4 mile portion of State Rt. 183, in Berks County, as the Trooper Wayne C. Ebert Memorial Highway. This stretch of Rt. 183 is directly in front of the Reading Airport. Trooper Ebert was directing traffic on June 7, 1978, during the Reading Air Show. While performing his duties on Rt. 183, Trooper Ebert was struck and killed by a pick-up truck. At the time of his death, Trooper Ebert had served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, for over 27 years. I served with Trooper Ebert and was working traffic duty at the Air Show at the time of his death. I knew him personally. He was a state police officer that was well respected by the community and the men and women he worked with. Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation. |
